If you're going to lie, at least lie well.
That's the advice someone should have given to ACCCE President Steve Miller before he tried to put some real whoppers over on the House committee investigating his coal lobbying group's involvement in sending forged anti-clean energy letters to members of Congress.
Yesterday, Miller lied under oath when he claimed that ACCCE had never opposed passage of the Waxman-Markey clean energy and climate bill, and that ACCCE had never lobbied the federal government before 2008. Not only did ACCCE insist that a newspaper reporter correct an article to reflect ACCCE's opposition to Waxman-Markey, but they have lobbied federally since 2001, when they simply operated under a different name.
According to a spokesperson for the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, the committee's staff is currently reviewing Miller's testimony and will soon decide whether his false statements warrant further action.
